SmaugWiz Builder's Notes

Eventually this may turn into a building guide, but for now it is merely a collection of hints, answers to questions, and existing documentation on various aspects of on line building.

Q. How can I color my room, object, or mob output?

A: Colorization Document.

Q. How do I add, remove, or change the Races in my SmaugWiz mud?

A. SmaugWizard Races Document.

Q: Why can't the leader of my clan (or guild or order) induct any new members?

A: Clans, guilds and orders all work the same way, so I will use the word 'clan' to represent all three in the following explanation.

First you must properly set up the clan. For information on setting up clans, guilds and orders, read the document SmaugWiz Clans.txt, which can be found in the SmaugWiz doc directory in the download.

Once the clan exists, you must set someone up as a leader. That person must be at a high enough level to have the induct command, so that he can induct others. He must also be a member of the clan. SmaugWiz does not automatically make a character a member, just because you set him as the leader. To do that, you have to mset the character into the clan.

use: mset <character> <clanname>

Leave off <clanname> if you want to remove them.

This works the same for clans, guilds or orders. You use "mset clan" for all three.

Once you have mset a player to be a member of a clan, then that person can induct or outcast other players (assuming that he/she has induct and outcast privileges).
